This work explores the idea of being bound to our roots, whatever that might mean to a given individual. Often this is depicted as a good feature, but if our roots prevent us from moving forward then keeping ties to them can often be not only a hindrance but dangerous for our well-being. Placing the figure on a ledge, with body language that is clearly depressed, allows for space for those who cannot allow ourselves to keep to our roots. The delicacy of the glass chain offers optimism that those bindings may be easily broken.

Flameworked Glass, Blown Glass, Moss, Metal
This work is a study of the power dynamics in human relationships. The use of body language and gesture is used to represent not only emotion but also the past. By putting the figure which is “in power” on one knee, it is an acknowledgment that almost all abusers come from an abusive background. Glass chains, delicate in nature, are as easily broken as bonds to toxic individuals.
